ARCHIVE 2005 - 2006 Season
Henry County caps off a great season with on state champ 4 runner ups, 2 other placers and a second overall team title.
As quickly as the season began it seemed the team was warming up at Gwinnett arena for the Traditional State Championships. This season all 5 classifications would be held under one roof. Under much scrutiny the GHSA pulled off what was thought to be the impossible and ran an almost seamless tournament. I believe it benefited the kids as much as the spectators to be able to see the best the state had to offer as well as be seem by thousands or wrestling fans across the state. As for the Henry County squad some things went exactly as planned and some bumps arose along the way, but were met with great determination and class.
Brett Warrington followed up his last season title with a second and Walker Daniel, Evan Warrington, Robbie Epperson and Tim Vlcek placed very respectable 2nd 's behind some very tough competitors. Tyler Faulkner placed fifth capping off another great season with his second season with a state placing. Jonathon Parker definitely earned most improved and dark horse of the heavy weight AAAA division placing 6th . The team after leading nearly every round fell short of a double state title placing second behind Ringold, however, the Henry County team as a whole solidified them selves as the best team ever to suit up in a Henry County singlet in the schools history with a State Dual title, countless tournament champions, countless team title championships a two time state champion and 6th other state placers. Congratulations to all the members of the Henry County wrestling team on a great season and more to come.
